Baby Noelle Portugal: 21 Week

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

The Good:
- I have felt Noelle a bit more consistently lately. She tends to kick me more in the evening.
- I finally finished putting together my registry at www.myregistry.com. Check it out if you want!
- Work has been pretty light this week (after the craziness last week)
- Noelle has really given me a craving for crab. Luckily snow crab is only $7/lb this week at HEB!

The Bad
- Acid reflux keeps getting worse, and I know it will just continue
- Been pretty tired this week. I feel like I could just fall asleep any time.
- I already want Noelle to be here and I am only halfway there. Haha! I am screwed!

The Ugly
- We went grocery shopping and bought some milk ( I drink a tall glass of chocolate milk every morning). I made my chocolate milk as usual and put it in my Tervis tumbler, which has a straw. I took one big sip and seriously almost threw up. The brand new milk we bought was spoiled!!! It was really horrible. I was surprised I didn’t actually throw up. Luckily we were able to return it and get some fresh milk, but it wasn’t a pleasant experience.

21 Weeks

How far along:
 21 weeks
Total weight gain: gained 10-12 lbs so far. I fluctuate based on salt content. I am really surprised that I haven’t gained any more. I am very proud of myself! I know that my weight will really start coming in the next few months!
Stretch marks: None yet.
Sleep: It hasn’t been bad this week actually.
Best moment of this week: Finishing my registry. It was really a large task and I am glad it is done! Also, Ivan felt Noelle kick for the first time!
Miss anything: Still missing sleeping on my stomach, and having a digestive system that works.
Movement: A bit.
Food cravings: Crab again… I ate like 4lbs of it this week… but I think I am good now!
Anything making you queasy or sick: My acid reflux makes me nauseous.
Have you started to show yet:Yup
Gender: Girl!!!!!

Baby Noelle Portugal: 20 Weeks

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

The Good:
- Purchased baby furniture yay!
- We purchased and put up the fan in Noelle’s nursery! Isn’t it so pretty!?

- Halfway through the pregnancy..yay!
- It is really nice to be able to call her by her name

The Bad
- I got a $260 lab bill from when my birthing center I guess used an out of network lab.. eesh!!
- I had a MAJOR freakout when I received an EOB from my insurance company saying I would probably owe around $500 to my birthing center because they were “out of network”. Well, sure enough, I called the birthing center and I guess they billed it wrong so it should be “in network”. I am still waiting on confirmation but I think all will be ok!

The Ugly
-Allergies have still been CRAZY
- Now that Noelle is getting a bit bigger, there is some pressure on my stomach causing my acid reflux to just come back full force…. I am burping like all the time. It is super gross.

20 Weeks

How far along:
 20 weeks
Total weight gain: gained 12 lbs so far. I am pretty much on track for perfect weight gain. We will see!
Stretch marks: None yet. Fingers crossed!! My belly has been expanding up a storm lately so I am hoping my lotion and coconut oil is helping.
Sleep: Getting more and more uncomfortable.
Best moment of this week: Best moment was getting to put the fan up in the nursery. It is so pretty and I am so glad that we bought it!
Miss anything: Still missing sleeping on my stomach, and having a digestive system that works.
Movement: A bit.
Food cravings: Nothing too bad this week actually… maybe my crab cravings are dwindling.
Anything making you queasy or sick: My acid reflux makes me nauseous.
Have you started to show yet: Yup. I can proudly say I am showing now. I had some random lady in the elevator the other day comment on me being pregnant. So clearly I am showing enough that people aren’t afraid to say something.
Gender: Girl!!!!!
Labor signs: Nope
Belly button in or out: In
Wedding rings on or off: Wedding rings are still on. I think maybe another few weeks
Happy or moody most of the time: This week I have probably been more moody but that is because work has been stressful moreso than pregnancy related things.

Looking forward to: Having the nursery decorated!

Baby Portugal: 18 Weeks

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

The Good:
- Only 2.4 more work days till I find out gender! YAY!
- Belly is definitely getting bigger
- I have been in a pretty happy mood!
- No swelling, barfing, headaches, etc this week!
- Got some stuff called “Natural Calm” which my friend Elizabeth recommended to me. It is a natural magnesium product, and will help with headaches and constipation (which I suffer from)
- Been able to take my prenatal vitamin most days! Hurray!

The Bad
- My head is kind of swimming with all the research I have been doing. I am typically a research oriented girl anyway, but it seems like I now find myself researching every baby product ever made!
- Pregnancy brain and laziness… I was late to a meeting at work this week despite the fact that Outlook had a POP UP reminder for me! I also have just found myself unmotivated to do anything but sit on the couch when I get home from work.
- Constipation…

The Ugly
- Acne everywhere it seems. It isn’t super bad on my face, just near my hair line. However, it is ALL over my chest.. and I am getting zits on my neck! How weird is that?!

18 Weeks

How far along:
 18 weeks
Total weight gain: gained 10 lbs so far. I have no clue where my belly, butt, and thigh growth is coming from since I haven’t been gaining any weight!
Stretch marks: None yet. Been using cocoa butter and coconut oil… but I am sure I am doomed
Sleep: Sleeping well this week!
Best moment of this week: I went swimming in my Aunt Reba’s saltwater pool. It was amazing! It was great to escape from the 108 degree weather, and get some “cool” exercise.  I also got the master bathroom all cleaned out! My parents also arrived!
Miss anything: Sleeping on my stomach…. Oh how I long for this!
Movement: Not really much since last week.
Food cravings: Oh I am still craving king crab, which really isn’t cheap so I am not satisfying this craving.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Didn’t feel very nauseous this week.
Have you started to show yet: Yes, although not enough for people to just “assume” I am pregnant. At least I don't think so.
Gender: Find out July 10th! I bought some really cute things to use for the reveal!
Labor signs: Haha.. no.This question won’t get updated for a WHILE
Belly button in or out: In… for a while I am sure
Wedding rings on or off: Wedding rings are still on. I test them every week to see if they can come off… we will see. I haven’t had much swelling yet, so I am still good.
Happy or moody most of the time: Been happy… a bit moody here and there but overall happy.
Looking forward to: Gender reveal!!! Also, I am in the middle of my 4 day weekend, so that is awesome.

Letter From My Mom

My mom is here this week and she brought my baby book to me. It was filled with milestones of my growing up and my birth story etc. Anyway, inside the book there were two letters, one from my mom and one from my dad. This letter from my mom was written to me when I was 6 weeks old. I transcribed it word for word:

Dear Lindsey,

Unlike so many children of these times, you are a truly wanted baby. Your daddy and I tried for five years to have you. When I look at you so precious laying there I can honestly say that you were worth waiting for.

You looked just like your daddy when you were born. I was so glad to have a daughter to love.

When you first were born and I would hold you and rock you to sleep, you would have the cutest little smile on your face. Your Grandma VanMetre said that you were talking to the angels,  and I believe her. I wish that you could always talk to the angels like that. I could imagine all of the instructions that they must have given you. I believe that you could talk to them beause I believe that you were sent to us from God. We prayed many times for a baby like you. If you were talking to the angels, I know that they were telling you how much you are loved.

From the day you were born you had the sweetest disposition. You hardly ever cry and you are very cuddly. Everyone raves about how beautiful you are.

Your daddy and I could not love you any more than we do. I cry at the thought of leaving you to go anywhere. I want to be with you all the time. You are a part of me.

You are now 6 weeks old and you sleep pretty much through the night. I don't think you talk to the angels much anymore because you are learning to communicate with us. You smile at us and your eyes light up when we play with you.

I hope that as you grow up that you will develop a relationship with Jesus. He will be the one to turn to when you have heartache and feel alone. Your daddy and I cannot give the same comfort as God can. We are only humans and you will find out that we are by no means perfect.

You are the most important thing in our lives right now. Neither of us realized how much we would love you when you were born. I pray that God will protect you and allow us to take care of you for many years.

After having you for 6 weeks all we can wonder is why were we blessed with such a wonderful, beautiful daughter. We certainly don't deserve you. God has been so gracious to us. We are so very very happy.

Love,

Your Mommy
